Fee Structure
Table of Annual Fees
The fee for one year of site rental, maintenance, and repair is given
in the table below, and is based on market surveys of customers and
competitors, the estimated cost of providing the services listed below
for the size telescope listed, and of the estimated cost of the
corresponding telescope. Please contact us at the address on our
Contact Us page for a quote
on telescopes that do not appear in the table.

Services included in the annual fee:
- Housing in our automatic observatory at our site near Sonoita, Arizona
- Mechanical and electronics maintenance by the Winer staff
- Cleaning of telescope optics once each month using CO
2 snow
- Repair of mechanical and electronic malfunctions (customer supplies
parts)
Services NOT included in the annual fee:
- Internet service
- DS1/T1 telephone line installation and monthly service fees
- Resolution of software problems (Winer staff will assist, where possible)
- Recoating of optical surfaces
- Long distance telephone charges for calls initiated by your computer or
staff on Winer telephones
- Shipping charges for equipment, data, or other property
- Service is not provided during the period July 1 through September 15
of each year (southern Arizona's "monsoon season") during which all
electronic equipment is powered off and physically disconnected from both
power and communications lines to prevent damage from lightning strikes.
Winer Observatory is not responsibile for losses due to fire, theft,
vandalism, accidents (except for gross negligence), or what lawyers call
Acts of God. The
actual terms and conditions are given in the Cooperative Agreement or
Contract with each customer, a sample copy of which may be obtained by
